Amazing experience. they accomodated us with our infant, took our stroller in the coat check, and made sure my allergies were attended to. They checked about 6 times to make sure I was ok and no item which I was allergic to didn't make it to my plate. They gave us a full banquette because we had our son with us. Amazing decor, and the food was off the chain!Read more

As you wander along Robson Street this is a popular Japanese restaurant that has been here for awhile. Reservations highly recommended. The assorted tempera was excellent, nicely battered, and we tried various appetizers such as gomae, liver, fried fish, clam soup, edaname, tofu, Saba shiroyaki, salmon belly. We ordered various sushi which was lovely plated and tasted pretty good and fresh. Also, Negitoro roll, and a few nigiri items. The service was excellent. Read more

My boyfriend and I lined up here for lunch earlier this month (2nd visit), and had their miso (medium) ramen and he had the shio ramen. We both chose fatty pork which comes with the ramen for added flavour. There are always line-ups outside their door and you can't help but think it must be good if there are a dozen other ramen shops in the same vicinity with zero line-ups at others! They are extremely busy. If you are parking, expect to put enough coins in the meter to stay at least 1.5 hours (line-up time, wait time after ordering, eat time). They are a Japanese run shop with all-Japanese staff, and have the best ramen I have ever had. Next time, I will have their miso ramen (again) with their heavy base for more richness in the broth. Stay away from their gyoza, however. They buy this frozen from a supermarket and it tastes cheap.Read more

Not many restaurants open after 10pm on a Thursday for a late night bite along Robson. The service was average as there was a slight delay to order but the beer came prompt which kept us occupied until our grilled calamari and pork cheeks arrived along with the yakisoba. Pretty good in taste overall. The yakisoba was udon based which was not what I was expecting, and not much meat or vegetable but pretty good.Read more

One of the great top 5 Sushi places in Vancouver.
The Sushi has excellent presentation, and it tastes great. Not your average sushi rolls, but the ingredients they use and the way they use them make for a great dining experience.
Be prepared to wait and dine 10 inches away from the next table, it’s a tight squeeze, but worth it.
Service could be more attentive.Read more

Some spots in their parking lot otherwise try the side streets. You have 2-3 guys working fast in the front at the sushi area so the wait for any dish very minimal. Blue fin tuna and hamachi shashimi excellent. We also had raw Ebi, wild salmon, scallop sushi, deep fried eggplant, gomae, monkfish liver, California roll with fresh crabmeat, green tea ice cream also very good. We sat at the sushi bar but there are tables. The service was good and pricing of good value.Read more

Located in the heart of Kitsilano, Hi Nippon has been around for a while and they make some pretty darn good sushi. Another restaurant dedicated to using wild salmon Hi Nippon has all of the old standards plus a decent, if un-inventive, selection of specialty rolls. Overall this is a great place to get sushi. The non-sushi menu items are not the greatest. The tempura tends toward the greasy side and the teriyaki dishes are good but not great. Our little one, however, earnestly declares that the udon soup she had tonight was the best ever! The service tongith was excellent and timely and the teriyaki dishes arrived piping hot and well timed witht he sushi order. Visit Hi Nippon for your next sushi fix and you will leave satisfied!Read more

Their cheerful staff makes the contemporary local crowd feel at home in a dining room filled with West Coast-y interior. At the busy sushi bar, chefs create impressive platters of sashimi, occasionally apologizing for a less than perfect toro that is nonetheless much better quality than what we are used to consuming at many Robson sushi bars. A salad of spinach and enoki mushrooms is redolent of sesame oil, and yellowtail carpaccio is drizzled with red pepper-ponzu sauce. One can ask for his/her usual here, but Uni Tempura and the grilled sea bass with Saikyo miso are more interesting. Whimsical but traditional menu will keep many end up staying for late drinks.Read more
